How often are therapy sessions?
Consistency is important for therapy to be effective. During the free consultation and your first session, we will discuss your goals and determine the frequency that best supports your needs.
Most clients:
Begin with weekly therapy sessions
Transition to biweekly sessions as progress is made
Choose monthly sessions for maintenance, reflection, and ongoing support once goals are met
Your therapy schedule is always collaborative and adjusted as your needs evolve.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Many people wonder if their concerns are “big enough” for therapy. Therapy can be helpful whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply want to understand yourself better. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or curious about your patterns and relationships, therapy may offer valuable insight and support.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, and your privacy is taken seriously. Information shared in sessions is protected by law, with limited exceptions related to safety, which will be discussed during informed consent. Creating a safe and trusting space is a foundational part of the therapeutic process.
How long does it take to see results from therapy for personal growth? Is therapy long or short term?
There is no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. Some clients notice shifts within the first few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work.
Therapy for personal growth focuses on lasting change, not quick fixes. Together, we will move at a pace that feels supportive and meaningful—whether your goals involve short-term clarity or deeper, long-term transformation.
Therapy can be either short-term or longer-term, depending on your goals. Some clients come in for focused work around a specific issue, while others choose deeper, ongoing therapy for personal growth and relational patterns. We’ll regularly check in to ensure the work continues to meet your needs.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
Not all therapy experiences are the same. A different approach, therapeutic relationship, or timing can make a meaningful difference. Many clients find that depth-oriented therapy helps them understand patterns that were not addressed in previous therapy experiences.
Do you work with high-functioning adults or professionals?
Yes. Many clients are high-functioning adults who are successful in their careers and responsibilities but feel emotionally stuck, disconnected, or unfulfilled. Therapy offers space to explore deeper concerns that may not be visible on the surface, including identity, relationships, burnout, and meaning.
What is the cancellation policy?
Appointments are reserved specifically for you and are typically scheduled for the same day and time each week.
A 48-hour notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to the full session fee.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide a superbill (insurance reimbursement statement) for you to submit to your insurance company.
If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services.
If you have an HMO plan, out-of-network benefits are typically not available.
Questions to ask for insurance reimbursement:
If you plan to seek reimbursement through your PPO plan, these questions may be helpful:
Do I have a deductible for out-of-network behavioral health services?
What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered per year?
Where should I submit my superbill for reimbursement?
Is there an online portal or fax number to submit claims?
What is therapy for self-growth?
Therapy for self-growth focuses on helping you better understand yourself, your emotional patterns, and your relationships.
Unlike therapy that focuses solely on symptom reduction, personal development therapy invites deeper exploration of:
Identity and self-worth
Relationship patterns
Emotional awareness
Life direction and meaning
Many people seek this type of therapy when they want more clarity, confidence, and alignment in their lives.
How is therapy for personal development different from traditional therapy?
Traditional therapy often focuses on managing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or stress.
Personal development therapy goes further by addressing underlying patterns, emotional blocks, and relational dynamics that influence how you experience your life.
This approach supports:
Deeper self-understanding
Healthier relationships
Increased confidence and self-trust
Long-term emotional growth
Can therapy help if I just feel stuck in life?
Yes. Many people begin therapy not during a crisis, but because they feel stuck, unfulfilled, or uncertain about what comes next.
Therapy provides a supportive space to explore what may be holding you back and to clarify new possibilities. Together, we work toward greater confidence, direction, and emotional resilience.
Do you offer online therapy for self-discovery in California?
Yes. In addition to in-person sessions in Brea, CA, I offer secure online therapy throughout the state of California.
Online therapy is effective for:
Personal growth and self-discovery
Relationship concerns
Life transitions
Stress, burnout, and emotional clarity
Telehealth allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your home while receiving the same quality of care.
Can therapy help me during a life transition?
Absolutely. Life transitions—such as career changes, becoming a parent, moving, relationship shifts, or aging—can feel destabilizing.
Therapy offers space to process these changes, understand emotional responses, and develop resilience. Many clients find that therapy during transitions leads to deeper self-understanding and renewed direction.
What kind of therapy do you use for self-growth?
I primarily work from a psychodynamic psychotherapy approach. This means we explore how past experiences, early relationships, and recurring patterns influence your present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
Psychodynamic therapy is especially effective for personal growth because it supports lasting change, not just symptom management. Sessions are tailored to your goals—whether that involves confidence, relationships, identity, or emotional healing.
